Britney Spears Up for Emmy and MTV Teen Award

What a turn around. After an horrific start to the year Britney Spears is in with a chance to win an Emmy for her guest appearances on sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The Britster is one of 41 actresses under consideration for an Emmy.

Brit's also up for the MTV Teen Choice Awards for 2008 in the Female Artist category competing against Fergie, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus (who hosts the awards show) and Rihanna. The result is decided by public vote (US residents only) and also includes categories for favourite reality show and reality television personalities. American Idol winner David Cook is nominated in the Male Reality/Variety Television category.

Britney’s Mum Lynne Pens Memoirs

Does anyone else think the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in the Spears family? No wonder, Jamie-Lynn and Britney Spears are fame seeking missiles with mum Lynne Spears leading by example.

She’s been busy penning her memoirs Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World. The book is thought to be an account of her role as a mum to Jamie-Lynn and the Britster, dealing with their success and fame, Britney’s meltdown, Jamie-Lynn’s role on children's TV show Zoey 101 and her pregnancy.

Curt Harding, a rep for Christian publishing company Thomas Nelson, told Us Magazine about the upcoming book. Woah. This book about pregnancy out of wedlock, drugs, mental illness and the superficiality of celebrity life is being published by a Christian publishing company? According to their website they also publish inspirational stories, so if you want to raise two children who go off the rails in spectacular fashion this could be the perfect parenting bible to keep by your bedside.

Anyway back to Curt Harding. The memoir starts with Lynne telling the story of her own family, which won’t be new. Britney and Lynne co-authored the book Heart to Heart which describes Brit’s childhood and Lynne’s family. It’s full of that rags to riches good stuff everyone loves to read about. Curt goes on to say

The memoir will be useful for moms who will read it and say, 'I can see myself in those same shoes.'

Unless they’re Manolo Blahniks most women won’t want to be in the same shoes.

The book is scheduled to be released in September 2008. Lynne and the Britster have previously penned the memoir Heart to Heart and A Mother’s Gift, a pop-fiction account of a young teen from humble beginnings hoping to break into the big time. Sounds kind of familiar, doesn’t it?

In other news, Britney's cameo in the Pussycat Dolls latest video has been axed. No one appears to know why her scene (waving from a car) was edited out of the final cut of the video.

Britney Spears is making a cameo appearance in the Pussycat Dolls latest video.

It's a small part," says a source about the popstar's visit to the L.A. set of the group's video shoot for their new single, When I Grow Up, on Wednesday.

She won't be singing or dancing in the video and instead is rumoured to be seen waving from a car. Hope she didn't crash it!

In the scene shot, Britney is driving in a car," the set source told Us. "They all wave at each other as they are passing in traffic.

And that's the sum total of her "cameo". Hard to see the point of being in the video if the Britster isn't going to be breaking out her moves, but it looks like another positive sign that the Britster is working.

Supernanny Offers Britney Parenting Tips

Supernanny Jo Frost reckons she can help Britney Spears be a more confident parent.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Supernanny says

I do believe she loves her children very much and I'd be more than happy to help her, to be able to put her on the right track and feel more empowered as a parent.

Importance in motherhood is about really relating to other mothers, being able to have support groups and it's about Britney being in a place where she's feeling secure and confident in herself, so that she is able to take care of her little ones and give them what they need from her, which is their mother around.

Wouldn’t hurt if she stayed sober, too.

Britney Spears Pregnant to K-Fed with Baby #3

Britney Spears refuses to publicly confirm her pregnancy but according to NW Magazine it's official.

This isn't the first time NW Magazine has purported to have the inside scoop on Brit's pregnancy. Last year the mag claimed to have the "official" news that Brit was preggers and didn't know who the daddy was.

Showing off a newly rounded tummy and a knowing smile, singer Britney Spears dropped a bombshell on ex-hubby Kevin Federline, calling him to announce she was pregnant — with his baby!

Although it's only been a few months since Brit and her former hubby secretly reconciled, the singer shocked the wannabe rapper when she excitedly confessed she's expecting a sibling for their sons Sean, two, and Jayden, 20 months.

"Brit's desperate for a baby girl and she always wanted Kevin to be the daddy," says a friend. "She wants her daughter to have the same father as her sons and for them all to be one happy family."

Brit was seen seen kissing her ex in March 2008, and K-Fed has been at her mansion for overnight stays, so anything's possible.

Is baby #3 on the way? NW seems certain it is, despite pictures of her smoking like a chimney. In photos at a recent party with whacko Jackson (who knew he was still invited to parties?) Brit looked svelte.

Other reports suggest she's just enjoying too much of her father's home cooking. With fertile Brit you can never tell.

Is Britney Spears Pregnant?

Britney Spears took up actor Mel Gibson’s offer to chill out at his pad in Costa Rica. With entourage in tow, including protective papa Jamie and agent Jason Trawick, Brit looked happy and relaxed – riding an ATV and having fun in the sun.

Pictures of Brit with a swollen belly have led some pundits to speculate that she’s pregnant. The Sun suggest it's too much of her father's home cooking and the after-effects of quitting meds designed to suppress appetite.

“Despite daily workouts, she has put on a lot of weight in recent weeks.

“She isn’t saying if she is pregnant, but she is taking medication which has affected her weight.

“Living with her dad — a chef — means she has piled on pounds. She is extremely paranoid about her body at the moment.”

Britney is also believed to be struggling with her weight after she stopped taking Adderol, a stimulant prescribed for attention deficit disorder and used by women to keep hunger under control.

Britney has also been spied smoking, so let's hope that bump is a whole truckload of meat and potatoes and not Adnan Ghalib Junior.

Britney back on How I Met Your Mother

Britney Spears was back today in the studio recording another appearance on CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Her first appearance broke records with 10.6 million viewers tuning in to see her in action.

Craig Thomas, the show’s executive producer and co-creator is said to be “thrilled” to have her back on set.

Brit will be reprising her role as receptionist Abby on an episode scheduled to air on 12 May, 2008.

“Everyone, including the cast, the crew and the producers, has been wonderful and Abby is such a fun girl to play,” Spears said.

“I’m having a blast!” she added.

Britney Spears How I Met Your Mother Return Uncertain

Britney Spears’ guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother was a huge ratings winner so it was only a matter of time before rumours surfaced that Britney would be back for another spot on the show.

In her guest role she played the part of Abby, a receptionist. Feedback from the set was that Brit was professional and a delight to have on the show. Brit loved it too, and is said to be eager to go back for seconds.

Gossip mags have been reporting that she will definitely be back on the show with dates to be confirmed, however Us says that

“No script has been written and until that is done, Britney will not be making a commitment. The offer is there but no decisions have been made at the moment."

Britney Spears Vows to Get Kids Back

First she got her body back, now she hopes to get her boys back.

Britney Spears is on the cover of the latest OK! magazine with an interview talking about her plans to get her kids back.

OK! say she’s cleaning up her act so the court will allow her to have her sons Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 19 months stay at her home for overnight visits. She’s also working to rebuild her relationship with K-Fed. The court hearing is set for 6 May 2008.

Britney also appeared two weeks ago on the cover of OK! mag talking about how she lost 15 pounds (approximately 7kg) in four weeks with five, small protein-packed meals a day and regular workouts, including pole dancing and jogging. She's looking svelte these days!

Britney Spears Gets Dose of Kiwi Happiness

Britney Spears must be one of the most unhappiest people on the planet right now. So New Zealand video producer Steve Hart is sending her a copy of his new DVD called Your Guide to True Happiness. Check out how to win your own copy, courtesy of NZ Reality Television.

The video talks of accepting one’s circumstances, living for today, not dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. It is about how to be happy at work, with your
family, with friends, and there is a chapter covering depression.

“The DVD is spiritual, motivational and full of practical advice that I hope Britney Spears can take on board,” says Steve.

The 70 minute video features a Kiwi cast of doctors, a psychologist, motivational speakers and visionaries.

“I really think Britney will enjoy watching the video and it may even help change her life for the better – I hope so,” says Steve. “She seems so miserable and she has all that money.”

Steve got the idea of making the video more than two years ago and resigned his job so he could work on the project. The basic premise of the DVD is that once you are above the poverty line, then more money doesn’t necessarily translate into more happiness.

Adnan Ghalib Talks About Britney Spears

At some stage, we've all watched the train wreck that her life's become, and just wished that someone could sort Britney Spears out.

At the moment Papa Spears is in charge of Brit's affairs but boyfriend/ex-boyfriend/fiance/hubby paparazzi photographer Adnan Ghalib is back on the scene and has his own theories. He talks to 20/20 about what he really thinks is derailing her life, but also admits, as a fully fledged member of the paparazzi he's made a lot of money charting her downfall.

Wonder if he also admits that he's already married? There are several rumours suggesting that Adnan's involvement in Brit's life is part of a calculated plan for Adnan and his wife to make big bucks and for him to snare his own 15 minutes of fame.

Adnan talked to the media last week about Brit and the craziness surrounding her life saying

"In a situation like that, you’re not ever going to contain it. It is what it is," he said.

When asked how Britney was doing, Adnan replied, "Just keep praying. That’s what I say."

Adnan was banned from Brit's estate for a while after Brit found evidence that he was being unfaithful - including racy texts on his cellphone and a video of him holding hands with another woman - however they have recently reconciled. According to some reports, the pair are engaged, others say they are married.

Britney Spears £2 Million Dirty Dancing

Forget Dancing with the Stars, Britney Spears will soon be dancing with snakes Sheiks.

Britney Spears will be earning a cool £2 Million (NZ$4.98 million/US$4.05 million) for a private performance, dirty dancing to her song I'm a Slave 4 U in front of a group of drooling Sheiks.

Sheeraz said: “I’m going to take Paris Hilton to Dubai – the sheikhs said any amount of money she wants is fine – and next I’m going to take Britney. She can have her own island.

Although he’s managing her multi-million dollar estate, Papa Spears hasn’t had the foresight to swipe her passport.

So the second her eager guardian turns away to count his gold, Miss Spears will escape from her LA villa and disappear to Dubai.

Brit's Dad manages her affairs, and will be wanting to get his mitts on the money before Brit parties it away.

She gets an allowance from her Dad, of US$1,500 per week. Meanwhile, he is permitted to draw up to $2,500 per week and lease a vehicle. No wonder Britney's lawyer, Jon Eardley, is disputing the extended conservatorship.

Break the Ice is the third single from her CD Blackout. The video is part of Britney's attempt at launching a comeback. She is also scheduled to appear in the movie When Good Girls Go Bad with Lindsay Lohan and recently filmed an episode of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Reports from the set say Britney was professional, turning up to the set on time and having learned her lines. Could Brit finally be turning the corner?



In other news, Britney plans to fight the extended conservatorship of her financial affairs granted to her father Jamie.

Britney & LiLo When Good Girls Go Bad

‘Bad’ girls Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan are set to co-star in a new Ian Shroder-directed film, provisionally titled When Good Girls Go Bad. Sounds like the roles are tailor made for the gals.

“They will star as rivals in the movie which will be set in New York and there’s lots of excitement about it,” a film insider says.

“One producer told Ian it could be a potential disaster, but he laughed it off and said he was even willing to pay the insurance himself.”

Party girls Spears (26) and Lohan (21) have both unsuccessfully battled addictions and the potentially volatile combination has some industry insiders predicting that the film will be a war zone. Others are hoping the former best pals will bond.

"Perhaps Lindsay could help Britney through her tough time.

Both have been through a lot so their friendship can only blossom."

Sounds somewhat optimistic given the temperaments of this pairing.

Meanwhile, her father James (Jamie) Spears continues to manage Britney’s affairs. His temporary conservatorship has been extended to 31st July – at a price. Commissioner Reva Goetz ordered US$2,500 in weekly compensation for James Spears. He was also authorized to lease a vehicle.

The latest documents also outline the scope of the power James Spears wields over his daughter's life: he can restrict and limit visitors, except for meetings with her court-appointed lawyer, retain caretakers and security guards and has access to all medical records.

The consensus seems to be that he’s doing a great job, and that Brit is on the road to recovery. She's certainly been looking pretty and healhty in recent interviews. But, lets face it, it would hard to do a worse job than Brit was doing on her own. And at US$2,500 per week plus a vehicle, it’s nice work if you can get it.

Britney Spears on Oscar Blacklist But Gets Visitation

First, Paris got banned from attending this year's Oscars. Now, The Mirror is reporting that Britney Spears has been blacklisted, essentially banning her from all the celebrity pre-Oscars parties.

Brit is desperate to dress up and snare an invite to one of the several glitzy bashes happening across town.

But so far she's been met with a stony - and embarrassing - silence from organisers.

Why, you might ask? Well, despite all the positive progress the pop princess has made since leaving hospital, party organisers apparently fear that Britney will create a scene and attract publicity for all the wrong reasons. In short, they don't want to be embarrassed. Perhaps they're worried she'll turn up commando, again?

But, it's not all bad news for Brit. Her lawyers have come to an arrangement with K-Fed's lawyers to allow Brit limited visitation with her children in a therapeutic setting, to assist with her rehabilitation. The conditions allow for the children to visit Brit only in the presence of her psychiatrist and dad Jamie.

Oops! Britney Spears Missing Millions

The big boys at the IRS are investigating Britney Spears after discovering that her estimated US$100 million (approximately NZ$125m) fortune has shrunk to a mere US$40million.

How do you lose US$60million (approximately NZ$75m) in the space of a year?

Earlier reports suggested that Britney's extravagant spending was the cause of her financial decline. One thing we can tell you she isn't spending money on is underwear. Britney was caught going commando (again) two days in a row.

Estimates suggest that in the past Britney spent over $US1 million annually on holidays. Then there's the clothes, the parties, alimony and all the other necessities of life. She also spends $86,000 a month on doctors.

However, rumours say this has all been changed with father Jamie, who is now in charge of her finances giving her an allowance of only US$60 a day. Yet she still managed to nip down to Mexico for a quickie marriage to married paparazzi conman err boyfriend Adnan.


Now it's suspected that someone has been stealing from the pop princess. The IRS has stepped in to investigate. They'll be looking at Britney's spending, and checking to see who has had their paws on her money, including self-proclaimed manager Osama Lufti, her boyfriends, her family and her record label.

Britney’s being audited, a Life & Style snitch whispers. The IRS has been watching her for a while. They want to find out if she’s been ripped off and by whom.

The IRS is looking at everyone in her inner circle, her record label-anyone who has ever received a dime from her or had access to her money.

Could things possibly get worse for Britney? She's lost her underwear, she's lost her kids, she's lost her money and from all accounts she's lost her sanity. What's left? Someone please help her.

Britney Spears Dance Teacher

Talk about a rapid recovery. One minute Britney Spears is in hospital, and her parents are twittering on about how they fear Brit will take her life. The next minute, she's working and there are rumours that she has a new tour planned.

Cut to the Millenium Dance Studio where Britney has been training and recently taught a dance classes of 4-9 year olds earlier this week and plans to teach another class.

According to OK! Magazine

She was greeted by a group of eight children ages 4-9 — and certainly more than a few star-struck parents. An eyewitness tells OK! that Britney went up to each child and asked them their name and whether they liked Madonna, because that was the song they would be dancing to this evening.

Britney doesn't need the money. From all accounts she's teaching at Millenium because she loves teaching and loves children. Maybe there's hope that her children will be returned to her care?

Us Magazine reports that a skimpily clad Britney wove her magic with the kids

When they arrived, they immediately spotted Spears, who was "dressed in tiny black shorts with a pink top and black boots," said mom Grace.

Added daughter Gigi, "[Britney] came up and gave me a big hug. She hugged me three times last night! She was so nice. I brought her a chocolate Valentine rose. She said thank you and put it in her bag."

Daughter Gigi said they danced to Madonna's "Material Girl."

"Britney was very into it and personally made sure every kid was having a great time," mom Grace said.

As the students left the room, Spears "told us that she appreciates us coming and she hopes we come again," mom Grace said.

Added daughter Gigi: "She hugged me again. When I got home, I cried in bed because I was so happy."

They returned Tuesday for a second session.

"We showed up, and she was wearing Cheetah shorts and looked so healthy and beautiful," the student's mother, Grace, told Us. "Her butt was hanging out."

Despite the fashion slip-up, daughter Gigi said Spears was still in control.

At this stage it appears that Britney is doing well. Let's hope she takes some time out to look after herself and get 100% well before she takes on any big commitments.

Lufti Drugging Britney Spears

Britney Spears’ mum, Lynne, has sworn in court documents that Britney’s self-styled “manager” Sam Lufti has been secretly drugging Britney, conspiring with paparazzo and controlling Brit’s extensive fortune. The statement indicates that Britney is often confused and acts like a child, while Sam takes advantage of her.

Some of the lowlights from Lynne’s statement dated 31st January are truly shocking. Lynne Spears alleges that Sam:

• Crushes prescription drugs and puts them in her food
• He then plies her with alcohol (a big no-no)
• He is controlling Brit by removing her cell phones and chargers so she can’t contact people
• He is controlling her finances
• He verbally abuses Brit
• Lies to Brit (e.g. telling her that married boyfriend Adnan is gay)

According to Lynne Spears

Sam told me,” You’d better learn that I control everything. I control Howard Grossman, Britney’s business manger. I control her attorney's and the security guards at the gate. They don’t listen to Britney, they listen to me. That’s why Jamie was gone tonight.”

At another point in the evening, Sam bragged to me that he is the one who receives Britney's checks and that one of them was for me. I told Sam that I hadn't gotten any checks from Britney. Sam then told me that they are in his car. He told me that if he weren't in the house to give Britney her medicine, she would kill herself. Then he said to me "If you try to get rid of me, she'll be dead and I'll piss on her grave."

Huh. Perhaps Lufti would benefit from a wee stay in a psychiatric ward?

The statement also mentions some heavy duty drugs including antipsychotics Risperdol and Seroquel, prescribed for bipolar and schizophrenia.

The courts have granted a temporary restraining order prohibiting Lufti from being near Britney or contacting her in any way.

Sam had told Britney that she was an unfit mother, a piece of trash and a whore, that she cares more about Adnan, her current boyfriend, than she cares about her kids, and that she does not deserve her kids.

The paparazzi reported to Sam and addressed him with great respect. They treated him like a general. He instructed them to get her back to the house. They later told Sam that Britney was on her way back.

He told us that he had disposed of all of the phone chargers and had made the house phones unworkable.

Sam hides the phones and tells her he has lost them. He also hides her dog, London. She looks for him all over the house crying and then Sam brings the dog from the hiding place and acts like her savior.

After Sam tells Brit that married boyfriend Adnan is gay

Britney then became very agitated and could not stop moving. She cleaned the house. She changed her clothes many times. She also changed her three dogs’ clothes many times. Britney spoke to me in a tone and with the level of understanding of a very young girl. Britney then picked up a bottle of pill sand read part of the label and asked us, “What does insomnia mean?” Sam told her that the pills will help her stay awake.

Sam told Jackie and me that he grinds up Britney’s pills, which were on the counter and included Risperdol and Seroquel. He told us that he puts them in her food that that was the reason she had been quiet for the last three days (she had been sleeping.) He told us that the doctor who is treating her now is trying to get her into a sleep-induced coma so that they could then give her drugs to heal her brain.

Sam then encouraged us to sit down on a sofa and do “tequila shots.” Jackie and I said we did not want to. Britney seemed to follow our lead. Sam then got some wine out and said, “Let’s all do toasts with wine.” Britney said that she didn’t want to, she wanted a pretty glass. Sam found a glass with a stem and poured wine for Britney when we were not looking. Britney refused to drink her wine and asked to drink mine.

In a separate court action, Britney’s father Jamie and lawyer Andrew Wallet have been granted temporary control of Britney’s finances and are empowered to make decisions on her behalf, including medical decision. Britney, who is estranged from her dad, has been fighting the court order. A court-appointed lawyer, Samuel Ingham, interviewed Britney and said she’s not in a fit state to understand the court proceedings or make a decision to appoint a conservator, so at this stage the decision remains.

Britney Spears Not A Suicide Attempt

The net is buzzing with news that Britney Spears attempted to commit suicide, however these early reports proved to be false. The latest reports indicate that Britney had not slept since Saturday and her psychiatrist was concerned about her mental well-being. The psychiatrist believed that Britney was becoming reckless and was potentially a danger to herself.

The committal to UCLA Medical Center was apparently days in the planning, and coordinated with police, who referred to her as 'The Package' in attempts to foil paparazzi. Britney was said to be cooperative and went voluntarily to the hosiptal. Mama Spears and Britney's current boyfriend, married man and papparazo Adnan Ghalib, settled their differences for long enough to follow the ambulance to the hospital, with a large convoy of reporters hot on their heels.

After Britney's stay at Cedars earlier this month, she had her lawyers draft paperwork making it clear she did not want her parents involved in making medical decisions on her behalf. We're told her dad had gone ballistic back then, screaming and swearing at Lutfi -- even pushing him -- in front of Britney.

Another news organisation has a different version of events. According to X17 Sam Lufti has been denied access to the hospital and boyfriend Adnan Ghalib is by Britney's bedside.

Ironically, papers were reporting earlier today that Britney was at loggerheads with parents Jamie and Lynne, believing that they were planning to get her committed for medical treatment. However Perez Hilton, is now saying that Mama Spears did not want Spears committed, proving that you can't rely on any information at the moment.
