Dancing with the Stars almost cost beach babe Cory Hutchings his marriage.
Wife Ange didn’t like him getting up close and personal with the luscious Rebecca Nicholson, saying she had to rush from the room the first time she saw the two of them wrapping their bodies around each other. But, were her fears justified?
Rumours from the Dancing With The Stars camp suggest that a lot of the couples indulged in flirty dancing, but Cory and Rebecca were the couple said to be spending time in each other’s rooms after lights out. It gives a whole new meaning to their talk of secret hand signals on the dance floor!
Last we heard Rebecca was dating Blair Strang but apparently they broke up a while ago. Single Rebecca was said to be seriously smitten with the gorgeous but married Cory.
Ange is standing by her man, but things have been understandably rough in the Hutchings’ household.

Cory Hutchings DWTS Photos

Cory Hutchings and Rebecca Nicholson left Dancing with the Stars this week. Cory hung his head, shuffled his feet and admitting to feeling stink about ousting Tina Cross last week. What happened to the Ironman competitive spirit? Didn't he say after the first episode that he would never help a fellow competitor the way the other dancers were helping him?
Rebecca’s face said it all. She wished she could urge him into being more competitive (clearly they didn't have a hand signal for this dance floor faux pas). At the last moment he made a pitch for the public to save him so he could earn money for his charity, Surf Lifesaving, but the public got the message and voted him out. Wife, Ange, will probably be relieved she doesn't have to watch him gyrating with the luscious Rebecca.

Cory Hutchings’ Dirty Dancing Upsets Wife
Cory Hutchings’ wife, Ange confessed in last week’s New Idea that she can’t cope with Cute Cory dirty dancing with pro dancer Rebecca Nicholson on Dancing with the Stars.
When she first saw the pair bumping and grooving together she was so uncomfortable, she faked an excuse and sprinted from the room.
This isn’t the first time that insecure Ange has had an attack of the green monster. She admits that she felt tense when Cory was on Treasure Island with just a pair of board shorts separating him from some hot young (and not so young) things. How did she cope when he spent all those years in Speedos?
Probably not that well it would seem. She says she’s not a confident person but she does trust him. Really. It can’t help that Cory admitted he’s “selfish” during competitions. Is that code for putting your wife and kids second Cory? We sure hope not.
According to judge Craig Revel-Horwood, Cory was put off his timing during last week's Jive by the roar from the audience drowning out the music. Kind of ironic, given the audience are exhorted to cheer loudly for the celebrities every time they do any fancy footwork.
Cory’s hoping to do better this week, although he says he hasn’t done as much practise as he’d like, as he’s been kept busy with the national surf life saving champs. Despite this, he says he’s feeling pretty good about doing the Foxtrot tonight.

Dancing With The Stars 2006 Recap
We continue our recap of past seasons of Dancing with the Stars.
In the second season of DWTS (2006) the former boss of WINZ, Christine Rankin and partner David Yeates were first to go. She had the legs, she had the earrings, but she couldn’t win the public vote.
Coast to Coast champion Steve Gurney hoped learning to dance would give him confidence for dating, but it was probably his chest wax, that sealed his fate, seeing Steve and Sharan Phillips the second pair to go home.
David Wikaira-Paul and Rebecca Nicholson showed a lot of promise with energetic routines but went home from the competition early despite entertaining performances.
Another Shortland St actor quickly followed. Christened a Yummy Mummy by host Jason Gunn, Angela Bloomfield showed her flexibility doing the splits in her routine with partner Jonny Williams.
Despite poor rhythm and an inability to master basic Ballroom or Latin dancing steps Rodney Hide continued in the competition by spending most of his time campaigning for votes.
He was nicknamed the dancing potato and dropped his patient partner Krystal Stuart on her head during the now famous spear tackle move but he kept smiling, and went on to continue losing weight after the competition taking up swimming and running.
Swimmer Danyon Loader was paired with Hayley Holt sparking rumours of on-and-off stage chemistry. Labelled a ‘ballroom boy’ by judge Alison Leonard, Danyon finished third in the second season of the show.
Discus champion turned television presenter Beatrice Faumuina partnered with Brian Jones was an early favourite and widely tipped to win the competition. She had superb characterisation of the dances but in the latter stages of the competition, did not achieve the same levels of technical performance.
Brian created fun routines for Beatrice and in the Jive pretended he was about to lift Beatrice, and then got flipped by her!
Lorraine Downes and Aaron Gilmore were crowned the 2006 winners of Dancing with the Stars winning both the judges’ scorecard and the public vote.

Dancing With The Stars Winners 2005
The new season of Dancing With The Stars starts this Tuesday on TV One so we thought we’d remind you who was in past competitions.
Click here for a recap of the 2006 DWTS contestants and click here to see who will be Dancing with the Stars 2008 or click here to see our awards for the Best & Worst of DWTS 2007.
In the first year of the New Zealand Dancing With The Stars (2005) model Nicky Watson and partner Kiel de Buisson were first to go home. There were tears from Nicky on the night, but judge Brendan Cole was on hand to comfort her…
Westie Ewen Gilmour and leggy Lauren de Boeck went home next. Ewen rode his Triumph motorbike onto stage and Lauren pulled off her skirt, but it wasn’t enough to save Ewen from elimination.
Georgina Beyer and Michael Hoggard were next to go. Georgina was the only celebrity who did not keep her fee for participating in Dancing With The Stars. She donated her entire fee – thought to be in the region of $16,000 – to charity.
Actress Theresa Healey and Peter Wales, expected to go far in Dancing With The Stars, was a shock elimination in the next episode.
Netballer Bernice Mene improved dramatically throughout the show with help from partner d'Artagnan Kennedy, but it wasn’t enough to keep her from elimination.
For one frightening moment it appeared that popular Mayor Tim Shadbolt and partner Rebecca Nicholson might make it to the finals, but at last his dream run came to an end.
Shane Cortese and Nerida Lister (now going by maiden name Nerida Jantti) didn’t take away the Dancing With The Stars crown but they did earn the honour of being the parents of the first DWTS baby.
Shane took his shirt off in the final episode, but the move backfired on him with voters.
All Black Norm Hewitt and partner Carol-Ann Hickmore were crowned the winners, although there were a few moments of nail biting when the scores were tied after the judges' had their say.
After their magnificent Paso Doble (the first dance to receive perfect 10s) Norm's popularity with the public was sealed, and the public voted him the winner on the night.
Norm and Shane joined forces after DWTS to create the DVD 'The Dancing Diet' which featured their DWTS partners, Nerida Jantti, Carol-Ann Hickmore and Norm's wife aerobics champion Arlene Thomas-Hewitt.

Cory Hutchings Beach Babe
Beach babe Cory Hutchings is hoping for success in Dancing with the Stars. He admits that dancing doesn't come naturally and he's not comfortable moving his hips, but he hopes that his physical fitness and tenacity will give him the edge.
Miss Prozac is voting for Cory on principle. The principle being that the longer the contestants stay in the show, the more clothes they seem to shed. Unfortunately, Cory is unlikely to lose his shirt for the show, having said that he thought it was a tacky move that cost Shane Cortese the title in the first season.
Hmmm. Miss Prozac will be holding out for some decent hip action from Cory, but failing that she's shifting allegiances to the contestant with the best shimmy.
In this TV One news video Cory is rehearsing with professional partner Rebecca Nicholson. Apologies for the widescreen format on the video, but hopefully you won't need to hunt down a magnifying glass to see the full picture!
Rebecca is the only professional dancer to appear in all four seasons of Dancing with the Stars. She's done well with some pretty lumpy clay to mould in the form of past partners, Paul The Gnome Holmes and Tim Shadbolt. Ironically, she didn't do so well with her one coordinated partner, David Wikaira-Paul, so how will she fare this year with hunky Cory?
This is the third time that margarine lover Cory has been invited to participate in DWTS.

Candy Lane Dancers Video
Candy Lane is now well known as the Dancing with The Stars host who keeps stumbling over her scripted spontaneous lines; unlike cohost Jason Gunn who just stumbles over his feet.
Updated: Video of The Candy Lane Dancers
Many of the DWTS dancers are members of her group, with the stunningly original name, The Candy Lane Dance Company. Check out Candy Lane with Nerida Jantti (nee Lister), Brian Jones, Rebecca Nicholson, Lauren de Boeck and others from the group in this video of them entertaining the crowd at the 2007 Qantas Television Awards.

According to The People, Alex is a skin specialist who is enjoying public displays of affection with our Brendan Cole in London night spots.
How much is a celeb worth?
Recently we posted about celebs offering their services to help Auckland City Mission fundraising efforts. The hot ticket was Aja Rock, but Hayley Holt and others have also raised substantial sums for charity. Good on them!
- Hayley Holt 1-2 hour Snowboarding lesson sold for $600
- Rebecca Nicholson 1 hour dancing lesson sold for $320
- Aja Rock, Treasure Island contender, flight to Waiheke and lunch sold for $1,500
Megan's ache for the homeless
In this week's NZ Woman's Weekly, Megan Alatini talks about the Auckland City Mission auctions and the heartache she feels for homeless people, promising a night of glitz and glamour if you bid to go out to dinner and dancing with her and DWTS partner Jonny Williams. Miss Prozac can't help thinking that would sound more sincere if it was the homeless people that she was taking out to dinner...

Holmes confirms horizontal tango
In his Herald on Sunday column, Paul Holmes commented on the public’s constant speculation about couples taking their dance floor magic into the bedroom.
There is no doubt some who have taken part have found themselves engaged horizontally with their dance partners, such is the power of what Candy Lane, with her ruthless exacting wit, calls ‘the dancing fanny’However spoilsport that he is he refuses to name names, which leaves Miss Prozac with the task of analysing each of the couples. Oh how she hates to gossip. We have also heard rumours that some of the judges, namely Bad Boy Brendan Cole, have been engaging in a bit of extra dance tuition. There is also gossip that two of the professional dancers are exchanging bodily fluids.
Brendan Cole
We reported earlier that Brendan Cole has been seen dirty dancing with April Ieremia. Of course, that’s hardly news. Brendan has been seen dancing with nearly all the celebrity gals in the show as well as those from Shortland Street, and various celebrity functions.
Verdict
There have been no recent sightings of this pairing so we’re guessing that little romance has bitten the dust.
April Ieremia and Csaba Szirmai
Csaba Szirmai has said that he has a girlfriend but he has also been seen giving April some “extra tuition”. Meanwhile April has been telling all the woman’s gossip magazines that she’s blissfully happy as a single gal. Hmmm maybe she just likes one night stands.
Verdict
Give that gal a few drinks and she’s anyones. We think it would be quicker to ask who April hasn’t slept with.
Paul Holmes and Rebecca Nicholson
No no no no no. This would be just plain wrong. Besides, we’re not sure that The Gnome is up to the job. Between his prostate cancer and osteoarthritis he’d need several blue pills (Viagra for the unenlightened) to keep up with the young and energetic dance partner. If his stilted and wooden performance on the dance floor is anything to go by this would be a very uninspiring way to spend an evening. The lovely and patient Rebecca is dating hunky Blair Strang who was ambulance officer Rangi in Shortland Street. The Gnome is married to
Verdict
Why would Rebecca Nicholson slip between The Gnome’s sheets when she has Blair Strang waiting for her at home. ‘Nuff said.
Michael Laws and Lauren de Boeck
Leggy Lauren de Boeck has shown that she is more than a match for Mayor Michael’s stubborn ways, keeping him on task with dancing, if not in time. We have heard no rumours of any hanky panky with this pairing.
Verdict
After a few hours with Mayor Michael we think Lauren de Boeck is far more likely to be found burying her snout in a bottle of gin than engaging in any horizontal tango.
Megan Alatini and Jonny Williams
Megan is married with three children and the much younger Jonny has a girlfriend. Not that this has ever stopped anyone in the past. No rumours have surfaced about this pairing although hubby Pita was initially apprehensive about the steamy body coupling on the dance floor. And no wonder, rumours were flying that Jonny broke up with his girlfriend during DWTS.
Verdict
Rumours are HOT where this couple are concerned.
Frank Bunce and Krystal Stuart
There have been persistent rumours and gossip about these two, to the point that some newspapers speculated there would be an official announcement that they are a couple. Both Frank and Krystal have publicly denied any romantic involvement. Frank insists he’s happily partnered to Carla Rawson and Krystal Stuart says the slutty dancing is an attempt to win votes. She even went so far as to tell Herald on Sunday that Frank is old enough to be her father! Instead she says they will be friends forever.
Verdict
Friends forever is code for we did it but now we’ve been caught so we had to call it off. Of course they did it!
Greer Robson and Aaron Gilmore
Yet another couple that have promised to be friends forever. In the last show Aaron was seen kissing Greer on the end and showing extreme affection. Both are married. Greer has two children and plans to add a third to the brood. Let’s hope he has husband Scott’s features.
Verdict
Friends forever… Of course they did it!
Suzanne Paul and Stefano Olivieri
The matching star tattoos is suggestive (of idiocy and masochism) but Stefano Olivieri has told GayNZ that he is looking for a man.
Verdict
We think this an unlikely horizontal coupling
Brendon Pongia and Hayley Holt
The two bodies of the competition. How could they resist each other? Both have made public denials of any romance and as they are both single there is no reason for them to be coy. However we have already seen that Hayley Holt is good at keeping secrets. Treasure Island the Pirates of the Pacific was filmed many months ago and Hayley managed to keep mum about her winnings prompting partner Brendon Pongia to say that he didn’t find out she’d won until the show aired.
Verdict
Hayley Holt could keep secrets from the KGB. Anything is possible and let’s just say we wouldn’t be surprised if there is something extra going on.

Paul Holmes' Thriller
For those of you who enjoyed Paul Holmes' Paso Doble I stumbled on this YouTube video. Unfortunately the quality is crap as they have videoed the TV screen but it does show The Gnome in all his glory strutting around the stage.
If you prefer a clearer version, there is a 30 second clip available.

The Life of an A-List Celeb

It’s a hard life but someone’s got to do it.
These last few weeks New Zealand’s A-list celebs (i.e. those currently appearing in Dancing With The Stars) are enjoying a frenzy of free champagne and parties in the name of fundraising and celebration. It’s no wonder Super Seller Suzanne Paul begged to be on Dancing With The Stars. Literally overnight the bankrupt star has been the subject of talk over the water cooler, had a fetching pink star tattooed on her thigh and been welcomed with open arms by the very same people whose money she lost in Karaoke tourism venture Rawaka. To be fair, she is doing her best to repay everyone. And this year she got her reward. According to Woman’s Day
I’ve put my name down to do Dancing With The Stars every year
I guess that means they got her cheap. Suzanne ‘But, wait there’s more’ Paul knows how to close a deal and this one will be paying big dividends.
Despite not being a cast member of Shortland Street, she joined a bunch of famous names at their 15th anniversary shindig. Megan Alatini was on hand to welcome everyone onto the red carpet and clearly enjoyed her moment gushing enthusiasm and air kissing the likes of Tem and Blair Strang (with girlfriend Rebecca Nicholson). Joining the party were bad boy Brendan Cole, Good Morning host Brendon Pongia, his dance partner Hayley Holt, Candy Lane and Paul Holmes. Also ex cast members Angela Bloomfield, Shane Cortese, David Wikaira Paul, Theresa Healey and Greer Robson who have all been part of Dancing With The Stars. Is anyone noticing a theme here?
Brendan Cole was seen dirty dancing with nurse Toni (Laura Hill), and it’s clear this gent prefers blondes. He was also seen last month at a celebrity poker tournament lusting after Aja Rock and Miss New Zealand Laural Barrett who both spurned his advances, as did TV3 weather gal Toni Marsh.
