Hayley Holt's UK Visa Panic

Hayley Holt will be hoping she can put a rush on her visa application to allow her to take advantage of her new role as a professional on Strictly Come Dancing. She needs a work visa to permit her to work in the UK and it can take several weeks for visas to be approved. Word has it she’s hustling to make it happen before she’s due to arrive.

Until then she's based at the Snow Park in Wanaka where she teaches the Snow Girls NZ camps to help train up-and-coming snowboarders. Hayley is a past New Zealand snowboarding slalom champion.

Strictly Come Dancing is expected to kick off in mid-late September 2008, but Hayley will need to have her stilettos strapped on by early August to participate in pre-show publicity and rehearsals with her celebrity partner. She'll be parted from her lover Richie McCaw during her stint on SCD. She might also have to leave her beloved jandals behind in New Zealand if she aims to impress the UK public.


Speaking of publicity… It doesn’t hurt that she’s dating the All Blacks captain, which will be great publicity as the Beeb cranks the promotion mill. The pair have been dating for a year, and recently moved in together.

There has been speculation in message boards in the UK and US that Hayley’s inclusion has more to do with potential showmances than her dancing ability – much to the disgust of loyal Kiwi supporters who believe she’s got the dance and choreography skills to shine. She’s also ultra competitive – as her Treasure Island win proved – and will go the extra mile to win the competition. Hayley beat rugby league and boxing hero Monty Betham proving her prowess in physical and mental contests, and is definitely tough enough to handle the 16 week dancing contest. Monty was runner up in the 2008 season of Dancing with the Stars.

While she may not stray from her hunky rugby lover, Kiwi gals will be praying absence makes the hands wander and puts eligible bachelor Richard (Richie) McCaw back on the market. The pin up is very popular with the ladies, and has a bank balance to match his studliness. The 1.87 metre tall (6'2") hunk has the unlikely nickname of Fluffy. If anyone knows how he got the nickname please satisfy our burning curiosity and post in the comments!

Update: The nickname comes from his hair, which apparently gets "fluffy" if he lets it grow longish.

Richie has turned down opportunities to appear in DWTS, but hasn't ruled out participating in future seasons.

The sporting millionaire is rumoured to earn around NZ$600,000-700,000 per annum as the All Blacks rugby caption and also has a rugby contract with the Crusaders. The minimum payment is $200,000 yearly but McCaw would earn considerably more as a high profile player. Add in lucrative endorsement contracts with the likes of Westpac bank which is thought to be worth around $200,000. Plus he's a nice guy. Sigh. Some girls have all the luck.

Tim Shadbolt no Metrosexual

Tim Shadbolt shocked the nation when he placed third in the first season of Dancing with the Stars, but recently he shocked himself by allowing himself to be subjected to cruel and unusual torture – primping, preening and painful pricks (the Botox kind).

The occasion was a local makeover contest, but it's not an experience Tim plans to repeat, after he failed to find his inner glamour queen.

According to BoTS the results are less than spectacular leaving him looking much like grinning TV star Garry Shandling. But, there was no grinning during the injections...

Hayley Holt Confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing + Photos

All Black captain Richie McCaw’s girlfriend Hayley Holt has been confirmed as a professional dancer for the 2008 series of UK celebrity dance show Strictly Come Dancing.



Hayley is a popular pro on the New Zealand version of Dancing with the Stars, not only for her lithe body but also for rumours of romances with Olympic gold medal swimmer Danyon Loader and former Tall Black and morning television host Brendon Pongia.

Hayley partnered muso Peter Urlich in the 2008 season of DWTS, but they were the second contestants to be eliminated from Dancing with the Stars.


Hayley also took out the title on Celebrity Treasure Island: Pirates of the Pacific and has been named New Zealand’s sexiest woman in an online poll.



According to Sunday Star Times, Hayley didn’t make the initial cut in her audition for SCD, and nor did two-time New Zealand Dancing with the Stars winner Stefano Olivieri.

Stefano had been talking grandly about entertaining offers for a UK dance show, but it seems his enthusiasm may have got ahead of the facts. Does that sound familiar to anyone after Stefano claimed to be the only professional to win back to back DWTS titles?

Stefano’s dance partner Natalie Lowe did make the cut, but pulled out, leaving an opening for The H-Bomb. Hayley will be replacing Nicole Cutler, who was unexpectedly dropped from the line up.

Hayley can expect a healthy bank balance at the end of the three month season. The professionals each take home £30,000 (approximately NZ$78,600) for their efforts over the 14 week period.

The UK show screens two nights a week with a separate elimination show where the professionals perform exhibition dances. There is also an opportunity to boost the pay cheque with the Strictly Come Dancing Tour which travels the UK after the television season ends.

Kiwi Brendan Cole is also confirmed for the sixth season of SCD.

Paris Hilton & Benji Madden Make Sweet Music

Paris Hilton’s boyfriend Benji Madden, of Good Charlotte fame, is helping Paris pen a theme song for her new reality television show I Wanna Be Paris’ New Best Friend or it might be called My New BFF, the name seems to change daily.

"Benji and I have been working hard on it," Paris said. "He's helping me write the lyrics for the song and then I'll sing it, too."

Paris also has plans to release a second album as well as filming a second season of My New BFF. How many BFFs can one girl have?

The first season is due to go to air September 2008 and Paris says in her blog:

We are having the best time, it's been so much fun to meet such interesting characters. We've gone on some crazy adventures together. I even brought some of the contestants on trips with me to Japan and Las Vegas within the past 2 weeks. It's been a blast! It's so much fun to take your friends to places they've never been and show them experiences they'd never even think of. It's quite a site and its going to be an amazing show and I'm so happy and thrilled with what's happening everyday. But not everything is all fun and games, they've been through some very brutal challenges ,so I give them major props!!

American Idol Ruben Studdard to Marry

Ruben Studdard, who beat test tube Dad Clay Aiken to the second American Idol title, is to marry his girlfriend of two years, Surata Zuri McCants today, Saturday 28th June 2008.

He met his bride-to-be during a CD-signing at a Wal-Mart store in Atlanta in October 2006. The 29-year-old singer says he was struck by McCants' beauty and later tracked her down in the toy department and asked for her telephone number.

Naomi Campbell Called Golliwog Supermodel

Supermodel Naomi Campbell fessed up to kicking and spitting at two police officers, but claims her attack was provoked after being called a "golliwog supermodel".



Campbell pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, one count of disorderly conduct likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress and using threatening, abusive words or behaviour to cabin crew. She has been ordered to do 200 hours community service over a 12 month period, and has to pay fines, as well as compensation to each of the police officers she assaulted after she lost her temper when her designer luggage went missing.

Campbell ordered the captain to get off the plane and look for her suitcase, holding up the flight bound for Los Angeles for almost an hour.

When cabin crew eventually called police to remove her she refused to get off the plane and accused them of targeting her because she was black.

While admitting that the tantrum crossed the line, Campbell insists she was subject to racist slurs. She has apologised to the Metropolitan Police but maintains that treatment by British Airways was "disgusting". British Airways deny her claims.

The chairman of the magistrates’ bench Peter Yiacoumi told Campbell "Whilst we accept that the loss of your suitcase would have been stressful your subsequent behaviour cannot be justified.”

Campbell was set to appear in reality cooking contest Celebrity Cooking Showdown but dropped out after she was arrested for throwing her mobile phone at her housekeeper.

Gordon Ramsay Refuses to be Gagged for Swearing

Gordon Ramsay's show Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares came in for criticism and a Senate inquiry about the amount of swearing and foul language.

However, the Australian Senate rejected calls to ban some swear words on Australian television, despite a complaint from Senator Cory Bernardi who wanted swear words "beeped out"

The inquiry heard evidence that the firebrand chef and restaurateur used one of his favorite curses 80 times within a single 40-minute episode.

Chef who is the star of several popular reality shows, including Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares and The F Word was unrepentant, suggesting that people change the channel if they don't like what they hear.

"Turn over (the TV channel). Isn't it easier?" he said in an interview peppered with profanities.

The popular chef made no apologies for his show. "It's high pressure, high energy and, more importantly, real — that's how we keep it every day," he said.

Gordon Ramsay was recently in the news after a contestant's thumb was thought to have been eaten on an episode of Hell's Kitchen.

Britney Spears Up for Emmy and MTV Teen Award

What a turn around. After an horrific start to the year Britney Spears is in with a chance to win an Emmy for her guest appearances on sitcom How I Met Your Mother. The Britster is one of 41 actresses under consideration for an Emmy.

Brit's also up for the MTV Teen Choice Awards for 2008 in the Female Artist category competing against Fergie, Mariah Carey, Miley Cyrus (who hosts the awards show) and Rihanna. The result is decided by public vote (US residents only) and also includes categories for favourite reality show and reality television personalities. American Idol winner David Cook is nominated in the Male Reality/Variety Television category.

Denise Richards Second Playboy Shoot?

Former Bond girl Denise Richards will be on our screens this week in the reality show Denise Richards: It's Complicated, but everyone’s talking about a recent OK! interview where she said she’d consider doing a second Playboy magazine shoot. Her first Playboy photos appeared in the December 2004 issue.

"It's still a possibility. It's so iconic and fun. I think that my niche is as a sex symbol. I'm never going to be the girl next door, so why not play up my niche?"

The reality show follows her life post-separation from Charlie Sheen – the dating, the divorce, raising her two girls, her life as a celebrity, her cursing and cussing and confrontations with the media.

In tonight’s show Denise arranges to find a stud pig to breed her female and goes on a blind date.

Denise Richards: It's Complicated is the brain child of American Idol host Ryan Seacrest and is produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions. The show premieres Tuesday 17th June on E! at 10:00pm.

Britney’s Mum Lynne Pens Memoirs

Does anyone else think the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in the Spears family? No wonder, Jamie-Lynn and Britney Spears are fame seeking missiles with mum Lynne Spears leading by example.

She’s been busy penning her memoirs Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World. The book is thought to be an account of her role as a mum to Jamie-Lynn and the Britster, dealing with their success and fame, Britney’s meltdown, Jamie-Lynn’s role on children's TV show Zoey 101 and her pregnancy.

Curt Harding, a rep for Christian publishing company Thomas Nelson, told Us Magazine about the upcoming book. Woah. This book about pregnancy out of wedlock, drugs, mental illness and the superficiality of celebrity life is being published by a Christian publishing company? According to their website they also publish inspirational stories, so if you want to raise two children who go off the rails in spectacular fashion this could be the perfect parenting bible to keep by your bedside.

Anyway back to Curt Harding. The memoir starts with Lynne telling the story of her own family, which won’t be new. Britney and Lynne co-authored the book Heart to Heart which describes Brit’s childhood and Lynne’s family. It’s full of that rags to riches good stuff everyone loves to read about. Curt goes on to say

The memoir will be useful for moms who will read it and say, 'I can see myself in those same shoes.'

Unless they’re Manolo Blahniks most women won’t want to be in the same shoes.

The book is scheduled to be released in September 2008. Lynne and the Britster have previously penned the memoir Heart to Heart and A Mother’s Gift, a pop-fiction account of a young teen from humble beginnings hoping to break into the big time. Sounds kind of familiar, doesn’t it?

In other news, Britney's cameo in the Pussycat Dolls latest video has been axed. No one appears to know why her scene (waving from a car) was edited out of the final cut of the video.

Lindsay Lohan New Single Bossy

Her single Bossy is the first track from the album to be released. The song doesn't seem like a winner to me, but when you're as famous as Lindsay who knows? The chorus tells us she's bossy and likes to get her own way:

The 44-year old model and actress is planning on undergoing numerous plastic surgeries while a TV crew films the operations for a three-part program to be broadcast on German TV channel RTL.

According to Brigitte, she will receive, “a complete renewal: facelift, eyelift, fat injections in my face, liposuction, a breast lift and I need new teeth.”

Ugh. That's one TV show Miss Prozac won't be watching.

Has Lisa Lewis gone bashful? Despite saying she’s comfortable in her own skin and with her decision to launch a career as a high price hooker, she’s removed her profile from the New Zealand Girls escort service and made her myspace profile private. Rumour has it she's moving to Auckland, so perhaps she'll be establishing herself with an Auckland based service?

Britney Spears on Pussycat Dolls Video

Britney Spears is making a cameo appearance in the Pussycat Dolls latest video.

It's a small part," says a source about the popstar's visit to the L.A. set of the group's video shoot for their new single, When I Grow Up, on Wednesday.

She won't be singing or dancing in the video and instead is rumoured to be seen waving from a car. Hope she didn't crash it!

In the scene shot, Britney is driving in a car," the set source told Us. "They all wave at each other as they are passing in traffic.

And that's the sum total of her "cameo". Hard to see the point of being in the video if the Britster isn't going to be breaking out her moves, but it looks like another positive sign that the Britster is working.
