No More Dirty Dancing for Cory Hutchings

Cory Hutchings, Rebecca Nicholson

Cory Hutchings, Rebecca NicholsonDancing with the Stars almost cost beach babe Cory Hutchings his marriage.

Wife Ange didn’t like him getting up close and personal with the luscious Rebecca Nicholson, saying she had to rush from the room the first time she saw the two of them wrapping their bodies around each other. But, were her fears justified?

Rumours from the Dancing With The Stars camp suggest that a lot of the couples indulged in flirty dancing, but Cory and Rebecca were the couple said to be spending time in each other’s rooms after lights out. It gives a whole new meaning to their talk of secret hand signals on the dance floor!

Last we heard Rebecca was dating Blair Strang but apparently they broke up a while ago. Single Rebecca was said to be seriously smitten with the gorgeous but married Cory.

Ange is standing by her man, but things have been understandably rough in the Hutchings’ household.

Cory Hutchings DWTS Photos

Cory Hutchings, Rebecca Nicholson
Cory Hutchings and Rebecca Nicholson left Dancing with the Stars this week. Cory hung his head, shuffled his feet and admitting to feeling stink about ousting Tina Cross last week. What happened to the Ironman competitive spirit? Didn't he say after the first episode that he would never help a fellow competitor the way the other dancers were helping him?

Rebecca’s face said it all. She wished she could urge him into being more competitive (clearly they didn't have a hand signal for this dance floor faux pas). At the last moment he made a pitch for the public to save him so he could earn money for his charity, Surf Lifesaving, but the public got the message and voted him out. Wife, Ange, will probably be relieved she doesn't have to watch him gyrating with the luscious Rebecca.

Cory Hutchings Leaves DWTS

Cory Hutchings, Rebecca Nicholson

Tonight on Dancing with the Stars each of the remaining celebrities (or slebs as Craig Revel-Horwood calls them) took a twirl on the floor with a Ballroom dance and a Latin dance.

Cory Hutchings, Rebecca NicholsonAfter two dances and a lot of talk from the judges about journeys, telling stories and driving the girl Temepara George and partner Stefano Olivieri were leading the scoring.

Miriama Smith, who had a bad week with injury and lack lustre performance, found herself in the bottom two with Cory Hutchings.

After the votes were tallied, the viewers agreed leaving resident Barbie and Ken Dolls, Miriama and Cory in the bottom two. Cory had hoped to be the last man standing in the contest, but his rival Monty Betham outperformed him in both dances.

As expected Cory and his slicked hair made their exits. His awkward robot dancing won’t be missed, but women everywhere will be saying a sad farewell to his pert butt.

Cory Hutchings Porky Past

Cory Hutchings, Rebecca Nicholson
Who'd have thought it? Cory Hutchings told a group of 350 Gisborne women registered with Sport Gisborne's Booty Busters programme that his nickname used to be “Porky”.

It’s hard to imagine it now, but Cory says he was chubby as a kid weighing in at 81kg when he was 12 or 13 years of age. He took up competitive swimming to lose the extra weight and became addicted to exercise. During his motivational session he told the women

"You don't have to be skinny but the confidence you get is amazing -- you get this spark in your eye, and it's an amazing feeling."
The battle between the men has been very competitive. Cory says he doesn't care if one of the women win the competition but he wants to be the last man standing. Cory, Monty Betham and Martin Devlin have been making side wagers each week in their own mini battle of the dancing stars, and Cory plans to come out on top.
"Monty has tackled me a few times and gives me a few little punches in the ribs . . . which is not so good, because Monty's little punches are quite hard sometimes," laughs Hutchings.

The girls are amazing and then there are guys like me and Monty mincing about in the background."
Who will leave Dancing with the Stars this week? Last week Cory was in the bottom two and says he is finding learning two dances each work hard work, but he's highly competitive and determined to improve.

Cory Hutchings’ Dirty Dancing Upsets Wife

Cory Hutchings, Rebecca NicholsonCory Hutchings’ wife, Ange confessed in last week’s New Idea that she can’t cope with Cute Cory dirty dancing with pro dancer Rebecca Nicholson on Dancing with the Stars.

When she first saw the pair bumping and grooving together she was so uncomfortable, she faked an excuse and sprinted from the room.

This isn’t the first time that insecure Ange has had an attack of the green monster. She admits that she felt tense when Cory was on Treasure Island with just a pair of board shorts separating him from some hot young (and not so young) things. How did she cope when he spent all those years in Speedos?

Probably not that well it would seem. She says she’s not a confident person but she does trust him. Really. It can’t help that Cory admitted he’s “selfish” during competitions. Is that code for putting your wife and kids second Cory? We sure hope not.

According to judge Craig Revel-Horwood, Cory was put off his timing during last week's Jive by the roar from the audience drowning out the music. Kind of ironic, given the audience are exhorted to cheer loudly for the celebrities every time they do any fancy footwork.

Cory’s hoping to do better this week, although he says he hasn’t done as much practise as he’d like, as he’s been kept busy with the national surf life saving champs. Despite this, he says he’s feeling pretty good about doing the Foxtrot tonight.

Cory Hutchings on Dancing with the Stars

Cory Hutchings, Rebecca Nicholson
Cory says he’s a bit nervous about Dancing With The Stars which he describes as being outside his comfort zone. While, the physical aspect of the training for Dancing with the Stars with partner Rebecca Nicholson isn’t a problem, he says the dance moves don’t come naturally to him and he doesn’t have a great sense of rhythm.

"I show Ange some of the steps we do but, to be honest, I probably make them look totally naff because I can't dance but I can do movements with Rebecca in a routine," he said.
Cory will be dancing the Cha Cha in week one, the Quickstep in week two and the Jive in week three if he's still in the competition.

Beach babe Cory Hutchings is encouraging his kids to be water babies. Living in Gisborne with wife Ange, Cory spends a lot of time in the water and has encouraged their children – Korbin (10), Skye (8), Luke (5) and baby Zak (10 months) to be comfortable in the water.
“If you let a child get too old before you introduce them to water, they start to experience fear,” says Cory.

He goes on to say that, “Luke really didn’t like the water at the start but now he’s the bravest one.”

And it seems we could have some budding swim or surf stars in the future as the eldest three children all became members of the local surf life saving club by the age of three years.

Cory works as a television presenter on Surf Club 174 and is three times world, and 11 times New Zealand Surf Ironman champion. He coaches kids and athletes in surf lifesaving and iron man competitions. He puts rugby team The Blues through their paces in an exercise routine that is described as being so brutal that it has the team dry wretching in less than 15 minutes!

Cory has his own clothing range for the serious sports professional as well as catering for the thrifty shopper; you may have seen his CHD clothing range at your local Warehouse store. He also markets his own range of surf equipment including paddle boards and surf skis.

Cory Hutchings Beach Babe

Cory Hutchings, Dancing with the Stars, 2008Beach babe Cory Hutchings is hoping for success in Dancing with the Stars. He admits that dancing doesn't come naturally and he's not comfortable moving his hips, but he hopes that his physical fitness and tenacity will give him the edge.

Miss Prozac is voting for Cory on principle. The principle being that the longer the contestants stay in the show, the more clothes they seem to shed. Unfortunately, Cory is unlikely to lose his shirt for the show, having said that he thought it was a tacky move that cost Shane Cortese the title in the first season.

Hmmm. Miss Prozac will be holding out for some decent hip action from Cory, but failing that she's shifting allegiances to the contestant with the best shimmy.

In this TV One news video Cory is rehearsing with professional partner Rebecca Nicholson. Apologies for the widescreen format on the video, but hopefully you won't need to hunt down a magnifying glass to see the full picture!

video

Rebecca is the only professional dancer to appear in all four seasons of Dancing with the Stars. She's done well with some pretty lumpy clay to mould in the form of past partners, Paul The Gnome Holmes and Tim Shadbolt. Ironically, she didn't do so well with her one coordinated partner, David Wikaira-Paul, so how will she fare this year with hunky Cory?

This is the third time that margarine lover Cory has been invited to participate in DWTS.

Cory Hutchings Back in Lycra for DWTS

Cory HutchingsDancing With The Stars cutie Cory Hutchings is looking forward to getting back into lycra for the 2008 series of DWTS.

Unlike some of the other men who are nervous about the costumes, margarine lover Cory is used to wearing Speedos and feels no apprehension about the tight costumes. Kiwi women will be rejoicing!

According to a recent interview, he’s not confident he will have the grace and coordination to do well on the dance floor, and turned down the opportunity to be on the first season of DWTS (won by Norm Hewitt) because it interfered with his competition schedule. Last year the timing didn’t suit, but this year he’s rearing to go despite the fear that he might have two left feet.

"When Mum heard I was doing it she made a bet with Dad that I would be knocked out on the first show. But she has since seen me do a lesson and now she thinks it may be the second or third show."But Hutchings is looking forward to it.

"You have to learn, and I enjoy the challenge of learning things," he said.

Who knows maybe it could be third time lucky for cutie Cory?

Cory’s charity is Surf Lifesaving New Zealand. His dance partner hasn’t been named yet, but is rumoured to be leggy Lauren de Boeck.

Eleven-times National and three-times World Ironman Champion; the legendary Cory Hutchings is arguably one of New Zealand's strongest and most successful athletes.

Cory can often be found on tour giving inspirational lectures for SPARC. He also hosts TVNZ surf show Surf Club 174. Cory has previously been on Good Morning's You've Got Male, Game of 2 Halves, reality television shows Treasure Island and The Zone.

Every year Cory is hired to put the Auckland Blues through a lethal pre-season exercise regime that has the team dry wretching in less than 15 minutes while he has barely broken a sweat! Plus, he is also a Gisborne family man, with his wife and four children taking priority.

Confirmed Dancing With The Stars 2008 Line Up

Jason Gunn and Candy Lane on DWTSThe final four dancers in the 2008 series of Dancing With The Stars returning in February to TVNZ have been confirmed.

Former Silver Fern Temepara George, actor and restaurateur Geeling Ng, radio DJ and musician Peter Urlich, and World Surf Ironman champion Cory Hutchings, will team up with professional dancers for this year's series.

The final four will join boxer Monty Betham, actor Miriama Smith, radio and TV presenter Martin Devlin, and performer Tina Cross, who were confirmed in December.

While I’m delighted that this year’s selection means that we no longer have to put up with politicians clumping their way around the dance floor, I am disappointed at the strong sports bias in the selection. I think Cory Hutchings will be magnificent. He is always extremely cheeky and entertaining when he appears on Game of Two Halves and he makes great eye candy, but the lack of a good cross selection of celebs concerns me.

In the final tally the selection is limited to:

Yawn.

Cory Hutchings New TV Role

Julia Toomey & Cory Hutchings on Surf Club 174Eleven-times National and three-times World Ironman Champion, Cory Hutchings has a new TV role as a presenter on TV2’s new local series Surf Club 174.

Margarine lover and pin up babe Cory Hutchings was a contestant on the second season of Celebrity Treasure Island, and has also appeared on Game of 2 Halves. Let's hope Sexy Cory gets the chance to strut his stuff on Dancing with the Stars sometime soon. I'm sure a lot of women would like to see him back in lycra...

His co-presenter Julia Toomey is also a Surf Lifesaving champion, although the highlight of the show will be Wendy, a custom 1963 Holden Wagon who will be sharing the screen with Cory and Julia.

Surf Club 174 is aimed at younger viewers with segments on beach and water safety plus news on events and things to do over the weekend. Beach Flags, Swim & Run and Ironkid are just some of the events competed in over the six week series.
