This week Steve Gray joins Brendon Pongia on the couch to co-host TV One’s Good Morning show. We chatted to him about his life, his co-host Brendon, embarrassing television moments and reality TV.
Steve Gray is a well known face to Good Morning viewers where he has been a regular movie reviewer and more recently gossip queen. He also reviews movies for DVD rental company Fatso, where he has an unfeasibly serious profile photo.
Miss Prozac thinks Steve is a keeper. Good to have some fresh talent on New Zealand with personality plus. Although she does have a few tips to help him achieve his career goals…

Capt. Jack Harness
If you were a leading man which character would you be?
Captain Jack Harkness from
Torchwood. So dashing.
Do you have a life outside reviewing movies and gossip? Is drinking a life, or a hobby?
[Miss Prozac sure hopes it's a life. Else people might accuse her of being boring]Are the glasses for real, or are they just to make you look like a brainiac?
Ha, real, I am as blind as a bat.
Single or in a relationship?
Engaged
Tell us about him…A man who can actually do housework would be nice. He is Maori, 35 and teaches computer skills to people who have experienced issues with mental conditions.
Who did you have to bribe to get to be a presenter on the show? Just kidding, but seriously, how did you make the leap?Started on bFM in Auckland 12 years ago and auditioned for Dyana with my friend Geoff Houtman, (we were reviewing as 'The Movie Police' ) and they liked our energy.....and hotness.
[Miss Prozac chuckles]What's your most embarrassing television moment?Having Angela D'Audney throw a video at my head.
Oh, and when Mary Lambie made me wear
lederhosen for 'The Sound of Music' special show. She was strangely obsessed with that show. Never again will I show my legs. LOL
Is it your goal to be a TV presenter full-time?Yeah, for the right show.
[They all say that and then they go on So You Wanna Be a Popstar?]
Would love to present a 'Beauty and the Beast' type show or A Kiwi version of that torture show that plays on Friday nights (Distraction).
[Helpful tip #1: Hire Dom's agent. He seems to have TV presenting sewn up, and if that fails your keywords are Dancing With The Stars and pink lycra]
Why have you got that unflattering photo on the TVNZ website?Ha, bitch.
[You say that like it's a bad thing]We thought it showed character........Obviously not.
[Which brings her to helpful tip #2...]We thought Jack Yan let a small television role go to his head, with his 'TVNZ insider' column. Do you agree or disagree? So agree....
Reality TV – love it or hate it?I love Survivor, and Top Chef, and The World’s Dumbest Model, Sweet 16, Dancing with the Stars, and that is it.
Least favourite reality TV show? The Apprentice. Trump is so ugly.
Who is your favourite New Zealand celeb? And why?Oh, I love them all. Too many friends, but Keith Quinn is a doll,
Who should win Pop's Ultimate Star?AHHHH, we watch it every week. Can't look away. As it is so strangely constructed, Peter will probably win, but I love Joe Cotton. She is fantastic, so have to vote for her.
[Ummm, Peter is a judge]
Exactly!
What's Brendon Pongia's most annoying habit? He won't sleep with me. Ha, he dresses way better than me and goes to the gym constantly, so just typical male competition.
[But think of the fame if he did sleep with you. Guaranteed book deals and your own TV show. Helpful tip #3 - we hear Brendon likes a wee drinkie or two]Any other goss? Who are the most demanding guests?Hmmmmmmmmmm, you may have noticed that I very seldom do New Zealand based gossip on the show, as I was in Auckland for 15 years and many people are my friends, if not flatmates, but Angela throwing the video at my head HARD is a good indication that she could be ....difficult.
Happy birthday Steve - We'll blow out 42 candles for you!
