Are You NZ’s Top Tradie or Jack of All Trades?

Jack of All TradesAnother season of Jack of All Trades is kicking off, promising glamour and grit in the TV hunt for New Zealand’s Top Tradie.

The winner of the seven-part television competition will take home a brand new Ford Ranger ute stacked full of all the gear a bloke (or blokess) could ever want. As well as gaining national fame, bragging rights down at the pub, and the title of New Zealand’s best Jack of All Trades.

Tradies up for the challenge of pitting their skills against the country’s best can now register online for the first round.

  • Judges will interview the top 20 entrants in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch in early June, and select New Zealand's top 12 contestants.
  • The next stage sees the 12 go head to head in the “Ford Qualifying Event” at the Field Days in Hamilton on Saturday June 14.
  • The qualifying event is a live audition on the tools, where contests must compete for a spot in the TV show though a series of short, sharp, skills tests.
  • The top four from this event will star in the TV series, which is set to screen on TV ONE starting 4pm Saturday September 6th.

Competition Organiser Damien Bray says
“The time trials will test every aspect of the tradies’ skills. “They’ll have to show they are quick, competent and accurate at carpentry, painting, plumbing, brick laying, handling a chain saw and tiling.

“And it’s not all about who finishes first, it’s who finishes quickly and does the best job at the same time.”
Judges will then present four finalists with the ultimate tradie challenge: build a holiday cabin from start to finish in just seven days – and do it all on television.

Homai Te Pakipaki Auditions

Homai Te Pakipaki host Te Hamua NikoraMaori Television’s popular live karaoke contest is back!

Homai Te Pakipaki will be kicking off again this Friday April 18 at 8.30pm and this year the producers have added a twist. Suggesting contestants were "spoilt rotten" with advance warning and time to rehearse their song in last year’s contest, this year contestants will be thrown a curve ball.

For the first time ever, performers will have their names drawn out of a hat and will not know what they are singing until just before they are asked to take to the stage. That should make for some lively entertainment and more than a few slip ups!

Karaoke kings and queens can register to audition from 5.00pm every Friday at Maori Television’s central city studio in Davis Crescent, Newmarket. Contestants must be over 16 years of age and will be chosen for their singing and performing talents. Costumes, effort and any other eye-catching devices are encouraged.

The lucky finalists will then perform live on Homai Te Pakipaki from 8.30pm and the weekly winner of $1,000 is chosen by the most text votes received from viewers. The overall winner will earn $10,000 and take over from Jasmine Taare as reigning Homai Te Pakipaki champion.

Apply Now to be a Naked Newsreader

By now you've probably heard that Alt TV is looking for women prepared to bare all to present the news. The Naked News Flash tagline is 'Full Frontal, Serious News' and their website suggests the show will be a fun place to work, with its tongue in cheek invitation. They're having so much fun lampooning "serious" news that you almost have to wonder if it's a hoax.

If you're prepared to showcase your "assets" to a drooling audience, this could be the opportunity for you.

The CEO of sponsor Marquis Condoms drolly says

“We see this as a great opportunity to promote our brand. And besides that, the programme needs protection and we’ve got it covered.”
Hmmmm.

The four week search for the Naked Newsflash Anchor kicks off tomorrow, March 27, 2008, inviting young women to apply for a live interview if they are able to speak clearly, articulately and confidently, are well-groomed and comfortable baring their breasts.

Alt TV say they are looking for a hot and confident young woman to present their Naked News who is not shy about having her breasts broadcast on national television. They delicately state that your nether regions will not be broadcast.

The successful candidate will win:
  • a three month newsreader contract
  • grace the cover of Brass magazine
  • receive a sponsorship deal with Marquis Condoms
  • enjoy a supplementary wage ...
  • and the obvious media attention that will come with the job.
Alt TV and Marquis Condoms promise to give one lucky woman the "exposure" needed to become the next star in Alt TV’s counter culture galaxy.

To be considered for a closed studio audition, applicants will need to send a tasteful topless photo along with their name, proof of age (must be over 20), contact details, previous related experience and a short blurb on why they should be the anchor of Naked News Flash. All applications will be kept confidential and processed by a woman. Click here to apply to Naked News Flash.
