Tom Cruise, Oprah & Scientology

He's spent two years battling bad PR, courtesy of his couch-jumping antics. But, Tom Cruise's image rehab is officially underway with a two-hour special on Oprah Winfrey, to celebrate his 25 years of making movies. Wonder if she'll ask him about wife Katie allegedly being sent to Scientology base camp for reprogramming?

Tom invited Oprah into his palatial Colorado ranch for a tour. He's emphasising his wife and new baby, and his latest movie, but is noticeably quieter on his controversial Scientology links.

Now in a new unauthorised biography, Andrew Morton claims Cruise is actually now second in command in Scientology, and spills the beans to 20/20 on what's really driving Tom Cruise.

Find out more tonight, TV2, Thursday 15 May 9.30pm

Andrew Morton, unfortunately, claims Cruise is actually now second in command in Scientology. Nothing could be further from the truth. Morton's factoids expose his "sand pillars". Tsk.

I can think of a few things further from the truth... certainly most of scientology "doctrine" falls into that category.

Oh yeah, and for anyone who wants to research the motives behind terryeo's thread trolling:

I wonder if Scientology's prison camps, forced abortions, brainwashing, stalking and murder will get discussed.

$cientology proving the age old adage, A Fool and his Money are soon Parted

They should indeed ask him about what he believes more.

I've only just been looking into Scientology, and I stumbled across this article searching for more facts on Scientology. Did you know that Scientology will harrass those who speak against it?

people who speak against scientology are known as suppressive people. scientologists teach you how to deal with them. not sure about hassling but they're certainly told not to put up with it. you either get out of the situation or tell them what they're doing wrong

Hi Jane,

Unfortunately a lot of what they do is obscured so as to keep a shiny PR face.

Scientologists are encouraged, nay exhorted to silence dissent by any means necessary.

They call this core tenet of their system the 'Fair Game Policy', or at least.. before they changed the name.

You can find more (unbiased by either side) information in the link from my name (Wikipedia.)

TERRYEO IS AN OSA SHILL (though it denies it). For the truth on this shill and others such as Luana1980 and James Lightfield please heck out http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Terryeo

Unfortunately, I'm sure this will be just a piece about Morton's book. It would be amazing if NZTV did a real piece on the abuses of scientology - the rpf, fair game, disconnection, their "front groups" such as Wise, Narconon, Applied Scholastics and the infamous CCHR.

I'm not holding my breath, though.

Ask Anonymous and ex-scientologists about Fair Game. Here in New Zealand, not just abroad.

Anonymous does not hate scientologists; they hate the abuses of the cult. They speak out against these abuses and are followed, photographed and harrassed. Mikey Ferris and about 5 others recently "crashed" the May protests, trying to keep Anons focused on them instead of talking to members of the public. This ploy did not work, as Anons were able to hand out over 1300 pamphlets and talk to quite a few people.

Do the research ...then join us at www.enturbulation.org.

Scientologists, Homeopaths, Tarrot Readers, Crystal Ball, Psychics, Palm readers, Numerology, Religion (ie, Christians, Muslims, etc ) and so forth, are all the same in having imaginary friends somewhere out there. Reason is thrown out the window and mysticism is adopted as a way to comfort the deluded mind.

Andrew Morton's book is the tip of the iceberg on the foul behind the scenes details of the pressures of top ranks staff life in the Scientology movement, and the ends Scientology leadership has gone to use celebrities. Andrew really did his homework, talking to dozens of firsthand Scientology ex followers who dealt with all aspects of Scientology's use of celebrities. Andrew really connected the dots between Tom Cruise and Scientology leader David Miscavige! Great photos in the books also! Chuck Beatty, Pittsburgh, USA

Oh, Terryeo, what would we do without our favorite lulzcow?

I'd love it if the media would ask him about the asbestos aboard the Scientology cruise ship Freewinds.

While Tom Cruise may not care about the mistreatment of scientologists in the RPF (Rehabilitation Project Force - Scientology's internal forced labour camp*), he may be more concerned that he is now at a significantly higher risk of contracting cancer.

*Don't just take my word for it, google the term and see if you can remain cool at such egregious abuses by a supposed religion.

Terryeo isn't even clear, he flunked trying to go clear so many times they imprisoned him in the internet.

What doesnot fit to the facts in Tom's interview is that he can't refrain from trying to make his cult right and everything else (himself included) wrong. As long as he does, his job will get down.
